The difference between a slow start and a great round isn’t talent—it’s preparation. A proper warm-up isn’t about swinging hard or hitting as many balls as possible. It’s about intentional movement, dialing in feel, and building confidence before the first tee shot.
1. Activate the Body
Before even touching a club, wake up the body. A dynamic warm-up—hip rotations, shoulder stretches, and core activation—gets everything moving freely. A few minutes of mobility can mean the difference between an effortless swing and stiffness on the first few holes.
2. Feel Before Full Swings
Start small. Chipping and putting first. These touch shots wake up the hands and establish a smooth tempo. Too many players head straight to the range, rushing into full swings without calibrating feel.
Once loose, move to half-swings with a wedge, focusing on crisp contact. Then work through irons, hybrids, and finally, the driver—always prioritizing rhythm over speed.
3. One Shot, One Target
It’s easy to mindlessly rip balls on the range. Instead, treat each shot like it’s on the course—pick a target, visualize the shot, execute with purpose. This builds trust in your swing before stepping onto the first tee.
